a group therapy is an independent production company based in Hamburg (Hamburg - Germany) and Chemnitz (Saxony - Germany) - initially founded in 2023 and prior established from a collective of like-minded filmmakers.

We strive to be role models by starting with ourselves - as our exchange is inspired by literal group therapy and a symbiotic form of accountability. We see our approach as a post-naive way of tackling industry challenges and enabling personal development.

Defined by two guiding principles - courage & sustainability: courage to question and reshape established norms, and a holistic sustainability that shapes our relationships, stories, and self-sufficient production methods - our purpose is forging and defending space for underrepresented cinematic visions.
